(Slide from the Admissions Powerpoint)
Just started week two, and I feel like I’m starting off strong. I was pulled into a quick meeting with some high level executives over admissions and was given direction on a PowerPoint design and the content it needed. That became my main focus for the day. It’s meant to be a quick turnaround, a presentation for student ambassadors who will be visiting high schools in the area to better promote BYUI as a top choice school.
This week will probably be a bit boring for this blog, but that’s kind of what I wanted. School has spoiled me a little. I tend to think of design as something that’s always creative and fun, where your greatest strength is how your brain turns ideas into visual concepts. But that’s not always the reality.
You can still be creative and exploratory, but someone still has to design the PowerPoints and documents. It’s okay to design “boring” things. I chose this internship because I wanted to better understand that side of design and the impact it has.
