The end of week two. Looking back, it’s been a good week. I definitely felt frustrated at times, but growth is rarely comfortable.
Working on the secret project, my boss has me running point with the other designers. I’m in charge of making sure everything is organized and that tasks are completed on time while still maintaining quality. Everyone is working slightly different schedules, and fortunately I’m working full time during my internship. So far, it’s been going well. My boss is proud of my work, which feels good. As of right now, my goal is to become an art director someday, so I’m really enjoying the sense of leadership and getting a look behind the scenes.
In terms of work I can share, I worked on another PowerPoint for the all-employee conference and a simple splash screen for the video team. These were quick turnaround projects, so we couldn’t spend a lot of time on them. One thing I’ve been learning from my art director is that not every design needs to be perfect or highly creative. Sometimes you just have to deliver what the client wants, even if it’s simple. You don’t always need to overthink it. Sometimes it’s about doing the job well and moving on.
