I just finished my first week on the job. I've been a little nervous this week, but I feel that I can stand on strong feet. The next week begins a new dawn as the semester begins. The workflow should get more intense, but I guess only time will tell. Most of our tasks are due on Friday, so the week is usually spent using time management skills to make sure everything is done in a timely manner. It's also an important skill to learn how to learn what to prioritize and what can be delegated.
The biggest thing I've learned this week is that I am a safe designer. I'm married to what I know. Trying to maintain quality and time sensitive designs, I have put myself into a box where I'm not experimenting. That can be both a blessing and a curse. Sometimes I feel like a pixel pusher, moving forward if time allows, I want to learn how to design engaging and fun designs that push what I can do, while being conscience of the branding guide.
I worked on some PowerPoints today; something tells me that I will be working on these designs for a while.
