Project Overview
I love musical theater. Ever since I was a kid, I would sing showtunes in the shower. One of my favorite musicals is Hadestown. It is based on the Greek story of Orpheus and Eurydice. Inspired by the story and music I created a storyboard for key song: Epic lll. I took the first verse and broke it into 16 different frames.
I wanted to explore hierarchy and become more comfortable manipulating type, so I created a fake motion storyboard.
Epic lll Lyrics
The more he has,
the more he holds
The greater the weight
of the world on his shoulders
See how he labors
beneath that load
Afraid to look up,
and afraid to let go
So he keeps his head low,
he keeps his back bending
He’s grown so afraid
that he’ll lose what he owns
But what he doesn’t know
is that what he’s defending
Is already
gone

Sketch Exploration
I felt all of the concepts had potential to work together. This was a quick rough sketch to get an idea on the page. It was a way to bring a sense of hierarchy and pick a focal point for each frame.

Vector Sketch
Seeing everything on screen made me realize where the design was falling short. I wanted to experiment with a simple color palette and subtle shading, but something still felt off. The story just wasn’t strong enough.
So, I dove deeper. I did more research, sought out feedback, and reworked the narrative. From there, I developed the final storyboard with a clearer direction and renewed purpose.
Final Storyboards

I loved exploring something darker and more dramatic with this piece. I set out to tell a story rooted in fear and emotion. The voice starts powerful only to slowly grow more desperate. It just all came together in the end, and I'm excited to explore this further.
My hope is to bring this story to life through motion, capturing its intensity and transformation frame by frame.
